Counter Top Filters vs. Below Counter Top Filters

When deciding between a counter top filter system and a below counter top filter system, they each have benefits as well as disadvantages.  The follow is a brief but in-depth comparison   of both systems so that you the consumer can make the best choice for your home, family, and lifestyle.

Counter Top Water Filter:

One of the biggest benefits of counter top water filters is that they are easy to install, especially when compared to whole house water systems.  With counter top water filters, you simply remove it from the box, place it on your counter top, and plug it into your kitchen sink.  You do however, must read, and follow the very simple instructions provided by the manufacturer to guarantee that your system is ready to deliver you fresh, pure drinking water.

Possible the biggest disadvantage of counter top filters is that many people find them unattractive and taking up valuable counter space their kitchens.  However, several counter top water filter that have aesthetically pleasing designs, so that you are sure to find one that will blend with your kitchen design and décor.

Under Counter Water Filter:

If you want to keep your kitchen counter tops free of clutter, but still filtered water at your dispense without having to play for a whole house filtration system, then an under counter water filter maybe right for you.  Under the counter water filters, are installed under your counter, where it is plumbed into your faucet or to faucet of its own.

The main benefit of under the counter filter is that they do not get in your way.  They do not attach to your faucet, thus giving you freedom to washing dishes without having to remove it from the faucet.

On the other hand, the main disadvantage of a few under counter water filter models is that they can be difficult to install and may require hiring a plumber.  In addition, some manufactures require constant maintenance.  Therefore, make sure you understand precisely what is required of the make and model of under the counter system you choose.  I would like to make a note here; all systems will require regular and routine filter changes in order to remain effective.  As you can see, it is very important for you to shop around in order to ensure that you purchase a filter that is right for you.

As I have already stated, under sink filter systems are harder to install than filter system, which simply sit on a counter top.  However, if you have limited counter space, then the under the counter system may be the best choice.  There are several under the counter water filters, which are simply to set up and that require minimal maintenance.  However, these are often slightly more expensive.  Therefore, take the time to consider carefully which system will be right for you and you will find the perfect model for your needs.
